Our desire to understand what it means to be human is both a basic philosophical inquiry and perhaps the foundation of all human motivation and spirituality. Despite centuries of exploration, clear answers are still elusive. In this engaging lecture, complex existential concepts will be explained in jargon-free, straightforward language. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of a variety of perspectives on what it means to be human. We will consider the human being as: a thinking machine; relationship; love; a paradox; an emotional being; a three dimensional being composed of body, mind and spirit; choice and potential choice; and awareness.
