Boundaries of the Soul, The Practice of Jung’s Psychology with June Singer

By Jungianthology Podcast

C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago

Today we are recommending a lecture from C. G. Jung Institute of Chicago made available through Jungianthology Podcast. This is by Jungian analyst June Singer, Ph.D. This lecture is entitled Boundaries of the Soul – the same as the classic Singer’s book that is an introduction to the practice of Jung’s psychology. It is worth mentioning that this book has been considered one of the best introductions to Jung’s psychology. It is one of the earliest recordings of the C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago. Therefore its quality is not the best. But perhaps thanks to that, it brings that particular aura of the early time.

June Singer, Ph.D. (1919-2004) was a major figure in the development of the Jungian movement in the United States.  She earned a Ph.D. in Psychology from Northwestern University and completed training as a Jungian analyst in Zurich, Switzerland.  During the 1960′s, Dr. Singer founded the Analytical Psychology Club of Chicago in order to provide interested individuals an opportunity to study the works of Carl Jung. June Singer was a gifted analyst and a distinguished author and lecturer.  Her text, Boundaries of the Soul, is considered to be one of the best introductions to Jungian thought.

The Club quickly expanded and was renamed the C. G.  Jung Center of Chicago. Later it was renamed the C. G. Jung Institute of Chicago.  In 2004, the C. G. Jung Institute separated into two organizations, the C. G.  Jung Institute of Chicago and the C. G.  Jung Center in Evanston.  The Center focuses on providing educational programming and clinical services.  The Institute directs its attention primarily on professional training.

Throughout her life, Dr. Singer was committed to making Jung’s insights into the human spirit and his method of Analytical Psychotherapy accessible to everyone seeking personal meaning and growth.  At the June Singer Clinic for Depth Psychology, we continue Dr. Singer’s commitment and seek to carry her legacy into the future.
